Keynote Speakers

Anthony M. Boccanfuso

Since 2007, Tony Boccanfuso has led UIDP, a membership organization comprised of top innovation firms and research universities from around the world. UIDP's goal is to strengthen partnerships between the academic and corporate sectors while helping its members achieve meaningful impact on an array of university-industry collaboration matters'from contracting to commercialization and workforce development. Boccanfuso believes that academic-corporate engagement improves the lives of ordinary people through the development of transformational products, new medicines, and new approaches that lead to better decision-making.

Boccanfuso has more than 30 years of research and commercialization experience managing administrative, programmatic, and strategy initiatives for academic, government, and private sector firms, including the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He holds a doctorate in inorganic chemistry.

Rebecca Bryant

Rebecca Bryant serves as senior program officer at OCLC Research, where she conducts research and develops programming for the OCLC Research Library Partnership related to research information management, research data management, and institutional scholarly communications practices. Her publications include "Research Information Management: Defining RIM and the Library's Role", "Convenience and Compliance: Case Studies on Persistent Identifiers in European Research Information Management", and "The Realities of Research Data Management." Bryant received her PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Before joining OCLC in 2016, Bryant served in previous roles at the University of Illinois, including as project manager for researcher information services in the University Library, assistant dean in the Graduate College, and project leader on the system-wide UI-Integrate ERP implementation project. She also served as director of community at ORCID, where she led outreach initiatives to encourage the adoption of ORCID identifiers throughout the scholarly communications community. Bruce A. Weinberg

Bruce A. Weinberg received his PhD from the University of Chicago in 1996 before joining the faculty at the Ohio State University, where he is professor of economics and public affairs. Weinberg's research, which has been published in journals including the American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and Science, spans three areas: the economics of creativity and innovation, including the production, diffusion, and value of innovations; the determinants of youth outcomes and behavior; and technological change, industrial shifts, and the wage structure.

Weinberg has held visiting positions at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, the National Bureau of Economic Research, and Princeton University. He is a research fellow at the IZA - Institute of Labor Economics, Bonn, and research associate at the NBER. Weinberg is an associate editor of the Industrial and Labor Relations Review and the New Palgrave Dictionary of Economics. His research has been supported by the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and the Kauffman, Sloan, and Templeton foundations. Weinberg has served on working groups advising the NIH director on the biomedical research workforce and NextGen initiatives. His ORCID is orcid.org/0000-0001-8856-1803.
